Belian Borneo Ironwood

Borneo Ironwood is the common name for Eusideroxylon zwageri. It is a very rare, tall, evergreen, slow-growing timber tree native to Indonesia, Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak.

It's timber retains a lemony odour, and is one of the most durable and heaviest in the world. It is resistant to bacterial, fungal, insect and marine borer attack, and thus a popular material for outdoor furniture.

It's heartwood is light brown, which darkens to a deep reddish brown when aged. The sapwood is bright yellow and darkens slightly when aged. The wood texture is fine and even, with a straight or slightly interlocked grain.
